The tablet can be used directly in the production hall with the Winweb applications.
“I have the most important number sequences in my head,” says Peter Cornelius, owner and managing director of the traditional Palatinate company of the same name. “I handle sales myself.” This is made possible by the industry software from Winweb:
“With winweb-food I can handle a wide variety of dimensions analyzeor create a table with just one mouse click that displays everything clearly for me", says Cornelius.
The core competence of Cornelius GmbH in Hockenheim lies in the production of Palatinate liver sausage. “In these economically as well as politically turbulent times, flexibility and creativity are required”, says Cornelius. “The volatile raw materials market is placing increasing pressure on food producers. In addition, long-term sustainability concepts must be developed. We owe that to consumers as well as to future generations.” Peter Cornelius is certain that this can succeed: “We have already proven in the past that we recognized market changes early on and responded to them with innovative concepts and strategies. Our continuous and future-oriented investments in the company have paid off.”
Compact evaluations
One of them was certainly the early use of an ERP system, when most competitors were still calculating their figures and data by hand. “When I took over the company from my father in 2002, I started with a DOS system to bring our company into the technological age”, Cornelius recalls. And a little later, the trained master butcher, who runs the traditional Palatinate company in the third generation, became one of the first customers of Winweb. “Before I decided on winweb-food, I too laboriously kept an Excel file and printed out my statistics page after page with a dot matrix printer”, Cornelius chuckles.
“Since the introduction of winweb-food, I get my evaluations neatly arranged on a DIN A4 page.”

Convinced by the ERP system: At the beginning of the 2000s, Peter Cornelius became one of the first customers of Winweb Informationstechnologie GmbH.
Everything digitally networked
Right in goods receipt, the ordered quantities in winweb-food are reconciled with the delivered actual quantities, the batches for the Traceability captured and at the same time QS test plans queried. Then the invoices for the received goods are automatically checked in the system, in the integrated Document management system assigned to the supplier and transmitted to the financial accounting department. Part of the production also runs via the ERP system: This is how the Recipes for the Palatinate specialties managed via winweb-food, production planned and the Storage capacities kept. Batch traceability, item labeling and empties management round off the range.
Sales prices at the click of a mouse
And new topics keep being added: Since January 2023, actual recipe weighing has been recorded via mobile devices. Cornelius is also interested in recipe calculation including the calculation of material price and manufacturing costs. “I’m really a numbers person,” says Cornelius, who learned the trade from the ground up as a master butcher and added a business management qualification on top. Production records can also be evaluated quickly and flexibly. The result flows into the manufacturing cost calculation in order to be able to calculate even more precisely with it. Because ultimatelycalculated Cornelius determines his sales prices in the system with a mouse click, taking all conditions and downstream costs into account. This also includes annual rebates, advertising allowances, or freight and overhead costs.

In goods receipt, the delivered raw materials are compared with the ordered quantities in the software application and QS inspection plans are queried.
Paperless delivery business
For major customers throughout Germany from Edeka to Metro to Netto, with the in-house WinwebEDI-Converter implemented the recording of customer orders, electronic delivery and forwarding order messages, as well as invoice transmission – which is now significantly more efficient and less error-prone and of course also a prerequisite for being allowed to supply major customers: “It is quite exciting that our customers nowadays no longer want paper”, explains Cornelius. Picking is largely done by scanner: This also reduces errors and ensures faster processing. The forwarding orders are transmitted to the freight forwarder in winweb-food via the EDI-IFTMIN interface after successful loading control, and the required NVE labels are printed directly from the ERP system.
Since January 2023, in Document management system Documents collected: supplier certificates, item specifications or certificates of conformity, for which there is automatically a reminder when they have expired. At the same time, Cornelius is currently checking whether also Incoming invoices and delivery notes should be posted via winweb-food. “All in all, winweb-food works well 99 percent of the time.” Cornelius is also satisfied with the maintenance and update modalities:
“We pay a certain percentage of the purchase price for it and are thus always up to date.”
Of course, things can always be improved. To make sure that happens, Cornelius always passed on his ideas and tips directly: “Over the many years of working together, Peter Cornelius has helped move Winweb forward with his suggestions”, says Winweb CEO Willi von Berg.
