Verification of husbandry systems

For several weeks now, many meat suppliers who supply grocery retailers have been required to state the husbandry category of animal-based raw materials on the product packaging. Husbandry categories 1 (Indoor housing), 2 (Indoor housing plus), 3 (Outdoor climate) and 4 (Premium) are intended to provide greater transparency for consumers, but present producers with another major challenge: how can I safeguard my production processes to ensure that this information is carried through from delivery to the final product? How can I prevent different husbandry categories from being mixed so that my product does not have to be labeled with a lower husbandry category, even though the majority of all processed batches meet the requirements of a higher husbandry category?

However, upstream suppliers to production companies are also affected by this issue, as they must pass on exactly the same information to their customers.

Only sophisticated IT systems can provide support here, as they separate incoming goods by husbandry type and assign them to batches and use production planning to identify different batch quality programs and schedule them intelligently, in order to avoid mixing husbandry types and ensure clear product labeling.
