Efficient and clear management of the entire merchandise management flow requires the appropriate software
The family Hochhauser’s “Bruckwirt” inn in Pichl dates back to the founding year 1750. And in 2014, the butcher tradition celebrates its 100th anniversary.
From what great-grandfather Hans Hochhauser founded shortly before the outbreak of the First World War, today a modern slaughter, cutting and processing operation to EU standards has emerged
Leading niche specialist
Until 1990, the Hochhauser butcher shop also had the traditional arrangement: “Production” takes place in the “back”, sales take place in the “front”. But over the years it became clear that more and more customers were buying meat and sausage in the supermarket. The butcher family’s response was: “Then we will build a supermarket too”.
The retail sale was closed and the supermarket plan at the headquarters implemented. The courage was rewarded: Today, the butcher family owns three Spar markets. From then on, things only went uphill and they became a regionally significant niche specialist, supplying a broad range of customers from small catering businesses to large meat-processing industrial companies. Throughout all these expansions and modernizations, the Hochhausers remained true to their roots. “We only source animals from the region. And by region we primarily mean the Upper Austrian Hausruckviertel”, says Managing Director Hannes Hochhauser. Anyone who visits the butcher shop is amazed by the enormous quantities of meat processed in this spatially manageable operation. Now the Hochhausers have also bought operational reliability to go with their success.

Hannes Hochhauser did not make the decision for the suitable software easy and researched extensively in advance
Manage a wide range of operational tasks
With the help of an integrated business software, Hochhauser manages and controls all areas involving money: Goods receipt– and Goods issue, acceptance and execution of orders, delivery notes and invoices. Hochhauser considers the investment decision for the right software to be one of the most important decisions of all. And he prepared the decision with corresponding care: Years earlier, Hannes Hochhauser used contacts with colleagues to inquire about software experiences.
But he did not find a solution among his colleagues with which he was completely satisfied: "One time the system was good for slaughtering, another time there was a good sausage calculation. But for the depth at which our company works, there was nothing suitable."
Data overview
With the introduction of the winweb-food software from Winweb, the time-consuming and tedious work with Excel spreadsheets is a thing of the past. To the question “Have your expectations been met?”, Hochhauser answers without any doubt: “Yes, my expectations have been fully met in every respect.” As the most important advantage, the young boss cites thePrice maintenance. Because with the many different cuts and special customer requests, a lot of data is generated here.
I don't just mean the traceability of animals, meat or processing batches. The traceability of customer data is also an advantage.
The second important area in which Hochhauser butcher shop has now bought itself an advantage with the software is called “Traceability“. Hochhauser adds: “By this, I do not just mean the traceability of animals, meat, or processing batches. The traceability of customer data is also a benefit.” Before submitting a quote, he likes to check: “Which quotes did I most recently make to this customer?” and “What did this customer most recently buy and when?”.
Attractive employer
The advantages of the new software do not only affect the managers of the family business. After all, ten PCs as well as scales, label printers and scanners – from packaging to dispatch – are connected to the software. And employees who have never worked with a computer before also work on these devices. This not only makes it attractive to buy from Hochhauser, but also to work here.
Everything goes much faster and the members of the owner family have a little more free time.
Incidentally, the new software also accomplished the most important task: “Everything is significantly faster and the members of the owner family have a bit more free time as a result. The final question to Hannes Hochhauser concerns the price-performance ratio. His answer: “A good mechanic should also buy good tools.”
