Last week at Winweb, it was time to close our laptops and head to Bottrop! Around 40 colleagues visited the ELORIA Erlebnisfabrik, an event venue on the site of a former coal mine in the Ruhr region. It is home to EXPLORIA, Europe’s largest escape room. However, it has little in common with a traditional escape room: Instead of a single room, visitors can expect an entire world in the style of the 1920s.

In randomly assembled small groups, we competed against one another. The shared goal: to collect as many Reichsmarks as possible. Teamwork, creativity and, from time to time, a little ambition were called for. Because the groups were a diverse mix, colleagues who rarely interact in their day-to-day work suddenly found themselves on the same team. It was a great opportunity to get to know one another in a different way. And there were one or two surprising talents to discover.

We won’t reveal exactly what happened in the rooms. Photos weren’t allowed there anyway, and we don’t want to spoil the fun for anyone. After the competition, we rounded off the evening with a delicious buffet.

And who collected the most Reichsmarks in the end? We honored the winning teams today at our monthly Pizza Day: They received certificates, with a small prize for the team in first place. Congratulations!

A thoroughly successful team day with lots of fun and new groupings. That is exactly what makes great teamwork at Winweb.

Marcel, Zahraa (from left) and Chaimaa (not pictured) continue to strengthen the team

At Winweb, vocational training is more than just a word on the careers page: it is an investment in the future. And this investment pays off: three of our trainees have successfully passed their final examinations, achieving good to excellent results. Better still, all three are staying with us as employees.

Two new IT specialists in application development

Marcel and Zahraa have completed their training as IT specialists in application development and are now joining our development team. During their training, they worked on real-world projects and gained in-depth insights into the development of our ERP software for the meat and food industry. Both will now continue their careers as full-fledged members of the team.

New addition to the support team

Chaimaa has also successfully completed her vocational training as an IT systems management specialist. She will be joining our support team and helping our customers in meat processing, food production and food wholesale with any questions about their ERP solution.

Training that pays off – for both sides

We do not take it for granted that young talent will stay with us after completing their training, which makes us all the more delighted. It shows that at Winweb, we do not just provide training—we create real career prospects.

Congratulations to all three of them on this fantastic achievement – we look forward to our time together!

There is plenty happening at Winweb once again: we are delighted to welcome no fewer than six new colleagues in August!
Alongside three apprentices training as IT specialists in application development, one apprentice training as an IT systems management specialist, and one systems integrator, a working student was hired to support the programming team. As often happens some are more reluctant to be photographed than others; we respect that and are no less delighted.
We wish them all a fantastic start and an enjoyable and successful time at Winweb.

Winweb World Cup prediction winner

Prediction game fairy Andrea crowns winner Fabian

31 Winweb colleagues, a World Cup prediction game, countless missed results on our phones before even the first coffee ☕📱

Sure, some were eliminated along the way (credit where credit is due 😅), but most followed the excitement right to the end. And honestly: Things did not just heat up at the top, every position further down the rankings was fought over as fiercely as the big-eared trophy itself 🏆

Today was the day: At our monthly pizza day 🍕, the top 3 were honored with certificates to great applause. Winner Fabian also received an extra treat – well deserved! (Incidentally, Fabian already came 1st in the European Championship prediction game.)

It’s a shame that the days when the results were the first thing we checked in the morning are over. But one thing is certain: We’ll be back for the next tournament 😉

Team Winweb Aachen Corporate Run

Yesterday was the day again: Our rather large team took part in the 13th Aachen Corporate Run. A total of 6178 participants representing 439 companies competed in this charity run – and just as with programming, we also gave it our all on the course.

Eleven colleagues joined around 2,200 other runners in taking on the 6.6-km course. One particular highlight was: Daniel from our development team secured the overall victory in the 6.6-km race! An outstanding achievement, for which we congratulate him!

Sieger Daniel Winweb

For us, the Aachen company run has long been about much more than just an athletic competition. It represents team spirit, shared experiences outside the daily work routine and – not least – the good cause that the event supports every year. In 2026, the proceeds will go to non-profit organisations and projects in the Aachen city region that promote health, sport, integration, inclusion, violence prevention and therapeutic support.

We’re looking forward to the next run!

Winweb before and after the 2026 Teamwalk

Ten colleagues set off yesterday – despite the rain showers.

The second team walk of the season took us along a route in and around Aachen, and anyone who thought a few drops of rain would dampen the mood was proved wrong.

What made this round so special was that colleagues from a wide range of departments took part – and even our boss joined in. These are exactly the kinds of moments that bring people together. Out on the course, there are no hierarchies, just a shared goal.

What remains? Beaming faces – full of anticipation before the start, and full of pride with a medal afterwards. Everyone achieved their own small feat, and together it was all the greater.

We’re already looking forward to the next round. 🥾

Team Winweb B2Run

On April 28, 2026, the time had come again: B2Run Aachen kicked off the nationwide corporate running series – and Winweb Informationstechnologie GmbH was there!

At Allianz Park in Aachen, four of our colleagues took to the starting line and, together with around 3,500 participants from the region, completed the approx. 5 km route through Aachen's Soers district. As always, the highlight was the emotional finish in the famous CHIO equestrian stadium – an unforgettable moment after a strong performance.

The B2Run is about more than just sport: It brings colleagues together outside their day-to-day work and fosters team spirit. Our four runners demonstrated this impressively – with total commitment, a positive attitude and an excellent result at the finish line.

We warmly congratulate our runners on this outstanding achievement and thank you for your commitment – you represented Winweb admirably!

We are already looking forward to the next edition. 👟

Cheese breakfast

This week, the employees at Winweb had a large tasting selection of products from Rohmilchkäserei Backensholz GmbH & Co. KG– after his visit to northern Germany, our consultant Fabian had filled his car not only with a hefty package of tasks , but also with the finest cheese specialties and spreads directly from the farm 😄

We could not pass up this opportunity and today there was a large team breakfast buffet. Raw-milk cheese in many varieties, fresh bread rolls, grapes, walnuts and fine jams – the kitchen was the most popular place at Winweb this morning. 🍇

Many thanks once again to the Backensholz- team and of course to Winweb 🙌

The past year has challenged us all. New projects, IFFA and many innovative developments shaped our day-to-day work. Together, we overcame every challenge – and did so very successfully! We celebrated together and made a conscious effort to spend time with one another. Our staff parties and shared breaks were a wonderful reflection of our efforts to strengthen the team. At the same time, our team has grown – both professionally and personally. New colleagues quickly became part of the team and further reinforced our existing structures. For the second time, the team had requested burgers from Jülich-based caterer Plantikow – and with good reason: they are simply delicious. It was such an enjoyable and sociable occasion that time flew by and we completely forgot to take photos!

Especially nice: The teams from the different departments once again had some great conversations with each other. These connections now also add variety to lunch breaks.

In September, Aldenhoven took part in the “City Cycling” campaign for the first time. Naturally, a Winweb team also joined in. The 13-strong team pedaled hard for three weeks. Every journey made by bicycle was recorded, and the kilometers covered were added up at the end. The result is impressive: with a proud total of 2,760 kilometers cycled, Winweb secured second place in the overall rankings.

On behalf of the team, Arne von Berg accepted the award last week. Special thanks go to our colleague Stefan, who covered an impressive 1111,1 kilometres all by himself. A remarkable achievement that received a separate award. Incidentally, the campaign prevented 4 tonnes of CO² emissions in Aldenhoven alone, 8.088 tonnes across North Rhine-Westphalia and no fewer than 36.153 tonnes throughout Germany. This sets a high bar for next year – we are looking forward to it!

We wish all our employees, customers, interested parties and suppliers a merry Christmas and a good start to what we hope will be a happy and healthy 2021.

This year again, out of consideration for the environment, Winweb refrained from sending parcels and letters and donated an amount to Musikschule Aldenhoven e.V.

… Winweb celebrates a winter festival. However, like so many other things, it will not be able to take place due to the current situation. We are required to enjoy our glass of wine with only our closest family and friends. To provide a little culinary enjoyment, the management team has given each employee a hamper as a Winweb Christmas gift. This way, despite social distancing, we can feast together and make the best of the situation.

Thank you very much!

The first unit went to Winweb: CRT – Clean Room Technology delivered the first RoomGuard on Thursday, 18.11.2020, to Winweb. The mobile air purifier will provide clean, virus-reduced air in one of the programmers’ offices. The risk of transmission will be minimised and employees will be optimally protected. We are glad that we made the decision so quickly and thus secured prompt delivery.

We are proud to report that yet another of our apprentices has completed his vocational training with top marks. Tobias Packbier, another highly qualified IT systems management specialist, is now strengthening our customer consulting team.

Winweb's first dual-study student, Denise Kastory, has also successfully completed her vocational training as an IT specialist in application development. We are delighted that she will continue working for Winweb while she completes her degree in business information systems.

Congratulations!

Instead of a Christmas party, we once again celebrated a winter festival together.

This year’s theme, “pub sports”, was enthusiastically embraced. Once food and refreshments had been provided, table football, darts, pool and air hockey brought nearly all participants out of their shells and allowed us to see our colleagues in a completely different light.

The crowning glory was Winweb's own tournament-quality foosball table, which will make breaks more enjoyable from now on.

We had a lot of fun and a great evening!

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy start to the New Year. May health, happiness, contentment and many wonderful moments be with you throughout the New Year.

This year, out of consideration for the environment, Winweb chose not to send parcels or letters and instead donated money to the Aldenhovener Tisch.

Last week, the 8th Aachen Company Run took place, starting and finishing at the Melaten Campus of RWTH-Aachen. A total of 8,279 runners from the region took part this year and raised €35,000 in changeable weather conditions.

image(28)

Winweb also participated with a new record of 15 runners from across all areas of the company. This gave us our first opportunity to successfully test our new Winweb running shirts. Wearing them, team winweb1 even finished among the top 100 of the 360 teams that competed. But of course, we are proud of all our runners, who are improving their own fitness while also supporting a good cause. Since traditions should be upheld, we will certainly be taking part again next year.

The four-person team of Winweb employees cycled an impressive 2.291km between them this year.

For the second time, we took part in the AOK’s “Cycle to Work” campaign, which encouraged participants to cycle to work as often as possible between May and the end of August. We didn’t win anything, but glory and honour are assured.

We'll be there again next year!

Summer party 2019: In glorious weather, we showed off our sporting prowess. Whether football golf or mini golf – the goal was the same: The ball had to go into the hole!

At miniature golf, it became clear that life experience and practice led to victory: Mr Pavic emerged as the winner.

image(22)

Football golf was a new challenge for almost all participants. Players had to shoot over hills, and through pipes. Even experienced footballers reached their limits, but everyone had great fun!

image(23)
image(24)

And finally, the winner was decided: Leon Fröhlich sank the ball in the specified 18 holes with just 84 shots! Congratulations!

image(25)

To round off the day, we enjoyed a barbecue together and made the most of the long summer evening!

A special venue provided the setting for Winweb’s ‚New Year’s party‘ this year: the Flower Hall at Brückenkopfpark Jülich was transformed into Casino Royal.

Employees and their partners were able to try their luck at roulette, blackjack and poker under expert guidance – without any risk or their own capital, just for fun.

After everyone had eaten at the buffet, the games began and continued until well after midnight. The winners were then announced.

Another Winweb apprentice in Berlin – Simon Gaul, an IT specialist in application development, has done it: with 99 out of 100 points in the Chamber of Industry and Commerce final exam, he was the top apprentice nationwide in his profession. He will travel to Berlin in early December for the award ceremony.

For Winweb as a training company, it is an extraordinary achievement to have produced Germany’s best apprentice for the second time in a row. Managing Director Willi von Berg: “The excellent results achieved by our apprentices in recent years demonstrate the quality of our training. We are, of course, particularly proud of exceptional achievements such as Mr Gaul’s. Producing Germany’s best apprentice again after 2017 will certainly go down in the company’s history.”

Our employees are the foundation: we celebrate our 20th anniversary together

It was meant to be a small family celebration when the Winweb team gathered for a barbecue on Friday. Partners and children also joined the relaxed get-together, where good food and drinks provided an opportunity for conversations that there is no time for in everyday life.

1997: Once upon a time…

Managing Director Willi von Berg founds Winweb Informationstechnologie GmbH and begins marketing the winweb-food software he developed. These are not exactly ‚garage days‘, as the company has bright offices in its own building, but it starts small with two additional programmers. One of the first customers – and still a customer today – is Schwarzwaldfleisch GmbH in Achern.

2017: What has changed…       What has remained the same…

Today, 45 employees, primarily programmers, consultants and support specialists, look after the needs of more than 150 customers. The offices have moved from the founder’s home into a separate building, equipped with the latest technology and everything that makes a workplace pleasant. – Nevertheless: Winweb still does not need a grand, elaborate company building. Other priorities take center stage:

The software has grown almost tenfold, from an initial 200 screens to around 1700 screens today. Customer requests and specific industry requirements in the food industry, particularly the meat sector, continuously drive innovation and user-focused improvements to winweb-food.

Willi von Berg is still the dependable central figure at Winweb Informationstechnologie GmbH – dependable for the employees in a company with flat hierarchies and direct access to the boss, – but above all dependable for customers when it comes to fulfilling customer requests and responding quickly to new requirements. As an owner-managed company, Winweb remains a software partner that works with its customers as an equal.

13 employees ran for Winweb in the major Business Run in Aachen.

Everyone gave their best while enjoying the impressive running route: it led through the stadium where Alemannia usually plays, through the meadows where the carriages travel during the equestrian tournament, and ended with a finish in the large CHIO stadium right where the award ceremonies take place during the famous equestrian competition!

The setting and the positive atmosphere produced excellent results: our male colleagues finished in the top third, while the women achieved a respectable mid-table position!

Friday, 30 September 2016, marks the company run in Aachen and Winweb sends 7 runners to the starting line for the first time on the challenging 9.6 km course.

Participants: 447 companies, a total of 7000 runners and the Winweb runners prove that they can do more than just move a computer mouse—they are also fit and ambitious enough to keep up on the course. They proudly finish in the top third! Hats off to the fitness of the participants: Mr Cieslar, Mr Dankelmann, Mr Fröhlich, Mr Hellwig, Mr Herrmanns and Mr Kohl.

Traceability requirements for companies in the meat and sausage products industry are growing: whether osapiens fTRACE,myNetFair, proprietary solutions used by processing companies or food discounters such as Aldi, countless formats are now required by producers and suppliers. All providers of Traceability platforms pursue the same goal using the same means – greater transparency for customers through the most complete possible documentation of the companies involved along the value chain. Yet as important as this is, it should not slow down the processes of those doing the actual work. Without an intelligent IT solution, however, this is now almost impossible to achieve.

This is precisely where Winweb is one decisive step ahead: regardless of the target format of the report, data on goods subject to reporting is captured centrally, can be evaluated in advance and ultimately sent to the recipient of the report. The various target formats for batch-based information are supported, as are the different data transmission methods used to send the Traceability report to the recipient. Finished products are labeled in accordance with the requirements using the price labeling managed in winweb-food.
